10,000 Homes—Cork, South Africa
Throughout Africa, the AIDS epidemic is staggering. It is estimated that by 2020, 50,000,000 people will have died of AIDS in Africa alone. This is most devastating for the children who are left orphaned. 10,000 Homes recruits volunteers to build homes for AIDS orphans. These children may not have AIDS themselves, but both parents have died of AIDS, leaving them in a hopeless situation. They have no home and no means of providing for themselves. For only $3,700, one home can be constructed for these children. Volunteers build the houses, making it possible for them to be built at this reduced cost.
