Team Norway lands in Pune – Day 1, Part 1

3 Oct 2009 by Bruce Patty Bauman, 1 Comment »

Seeing the smiling faces of the team from Norway as they stepped out from the airport security gate at the Pune airport was an awesome way to start the day. I wasn’t sure they would be up to a busy day after flying 30 hours, but they were more than ready for the challenge!
After dropping off all the luggage at our place, we headed to the fabric store to pick out material for a few punjabis to wear during our stay. The only way to describe this punjabi-making experience is that it is sheer chaos, smashed in a humid tiny shop, mixed together with lots of people. First you pick your material from hundreds of neatly folded stacks. Then you have to find a tailor at another shop to sew the suits and negotiate how quickly he can sew them. Check out the pictures of our adventure, and stay tuned for Pune – Day 1, Part 2..evening with the kids at Hope of Glory Foundation Home.
