Why PACT?
We found Lawrence and Priya in a hospital with their mother who had contracted AIDS from her late husband. Priya, (age?), was severely malnourished and her mother could no longer care for her. The PACT Children's Home immediately took her in. Lawrence was still nursing and stayed with his mom. However, the burden of her disease drove to suicide just three months later leaving Lawrence with no family. How could we not take him also?
Today both children are HIV positive and living in our home where they receive medical care, good meals and education in a godly environment.
PACT was born in 1997 in response to the overwhelming onslaught of AIDS which is leaving an ever growing number of orphans in it's wake. Due to the cultural stigma attached to the disease children like Lawrence and Priya have virtually no hope for a future.
WHAT WE DO
Build relationships with AIDS patients in hospitals to counsel them and help meet their practical needs.
Women & children's Home - Our two homes care for 20 women and children who have AIDS or are HIV positive and have been left destitute and rejected by society. We find them and begin the process of bringing emotional and spiritual healing. The women also receive vocational training. The children are educated and for perhaps the first time in their lives experience the joys of childhood.
Home-Based Care - PACT reaches out to people through family support groups, educational support and visits patients in their homes to encourage and meet basic needs. Our goal is to see family reconciled and provide a caring, accepting environment where patients can experience the love of God.
Partnering With PACT - It is well known that caring for AIDS patients is costly, emotionally and financially. Needs for a typical month would look like this:
- Food: $25/adult & $15/child
- HIV treatment: $25
- Other medical: $15
- Home-Based Care: $15 per family
PACT's is driven by a staff commited to presenting the love of God to the outcasts of society. You can help us make this world a very different place for people like Lawrence and Priya. Please consider partnering with us in this endeavour by:
* Praying for PACT
* Providing financial support
* Volunteering your time and skills.
